Well, ain’t that somethin’? These here cheap TV dinners, they been around for ages. Folks say they started sellin’ ’em way back, cost a pretty penny then, near a dollar! Can you believe that? Nowadays, they’re a whole lot cheaper, thank the Lord. My grandkids, they love ’em. Don’t gotta slave over a hot stove all day, just pop one of them things in the oven or the microwave, and boom, dinner’s ready. Saves a heap of time, I tell ya.
Now, they call ’em all sorts of fancy names, frozen meals, ready meals, microwave meals. Sounds like somethin’ from a space movie, don’t it? But to me, they’re just TV dinners. You eat ’em while you’re watchin’ your stories, that’s how it’s always been. They got all kinds too, chicken, beef, even fancy stuff like lobster and salmon, though I ain’t never had none of that. Too rich for my blood.
Some folks say these dinners ain’t good for ya. Too much salt, too much sugar, all sorts of things they put in ’em to keep ’em fresh. Maybe so, maybe so. But let me tell ya somethin’, sometimes it’s better than pickin’ up some greasy burger from one of them fast food joints. At least you know what you’re gettin’ with a TV dinner. It’s all right there on the box.
They got these big family size ones too. You know, for when all the kids and grandkids come over. Chicken and garlic and such, thrown together in a skillet. Fills everyone up real good. Then there’s lasagna, from that fella on TV, what’s his name? Ramsay? Yeah, him. My daughter says it’s real good, but I ain’t tried it myself. I stick to the basics, spaghetti and meatballs, beef teriyaki, that sorta thing.
- Banquet spaghetti and meatballs: Can’t go wrong with that, good old fashioned comfort food.
- Healthy Choice beef teriyaki: My granddaughter, she’s watchin’ her figure, so she likes this one. Says it’s healthy.
- Hormel beef pot roast: This one’s good for when you want somethin’ a bit more hearty. Comes in a little tray, easy peasy.
There’s even this one called Hungry Man, big ol’ Salisbury steak. My grandson, he can eat a horse, and even he has trouble finishin’ that one. And turkey and dressin’, just like Thanksgiving, any day of the week. It’s amazin’ what they can put in them little boxes.
Some of these dinners, they got sauces and things from fancy places. Like Rao’s, my daughter says they got a restaurant in the city. I wouldn’t know nothin’ about that, I ain’t never been. But the sauce is good, I’ll give ’em that.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a quick and easy meal, somethin’ to fill your belly without breakin’ the bank, you can’t go wrong with these cheap TV dinners. They ain’t fancy, but they get the job done. And that’s what matters, ain’t it?
