Alright, let’s talk about these vegan frozen dinners, you know, the ones you stick in the freezer and heat up when you’re too tired to cook. I ain’t no fancy chef, just an old woman who likes to eat good without too much fuss. And sometimes, you just don’t feel like standin’ over a hot stove.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ you can freeze your own meals. Like, if you make too much lentil stuff or that quinoa bowl, you can just put it in a jar and freeze it. They say it lasts a couple of months, but I ain’t so sure. I always worry about things tastin’ funny after bein’ frozen. And that tofu stuff? Forget about it! They say it gets all weird and mushy. I’d rather just buy it already frozen, you know?
There’s all sorts of these frozen dinners now. Some are called “Power Bowls” and they got all sorts of vegetables and grains in them. They say it’s good for you, keeps you from gettin’ too fat. I guess that’s important, especially when you ain’t movin’ around as much as you used to. Then there are those “Light & Lean” ones. They’re supposed to be even better if you’re watchin’ your weight. And they’re organic too, whatever that means. Seems like everything’s organic these days.
- Power Bowls: Lots of veggies, keeps you from gettin’ fat.
- Light & Lean: Good for watchin’ your weight, and they’re organic, whatever that means.
- Saffron Road: Fancy names, but they taste alright, I guess.
- Kashi Frozen Meals: They say these are plant-based, so I guess that’s good for you vegans.
- Evol Lean & Fit: More of that “lean” stuff. Guess everyone’s worried about bein’ too heavy.
And then there’s this big company, Stouffer’s, they make all sorts of frozen food. I used to eat their stuff way back when. Now they’re makin’ these “Lean Cuisine” things and they even got some vegan ones! Imagine that, Stouffer’s makin’ vegan food. They call it “Origins” and they put all sorts of vegetables in it. They say it’s got all the “on-trend” stuff. I don’t know about trendy, I just want somethin’ that tastes good and fills my belly.
There’s even somethin’ called Purple Carrot. Now, that sounds fancy, doesn’t it? They got these meals you can order, and they send ‘em right to your door. Some you gotta cook yourself, but some are already made. I ain’t tried them myself, but my neighbor’s daughter, she gets them all the time. She says they’re pretty good, but they’re kinda pricey. Well, I guess you gotta pay for convenience these days.
So, you got all sorts of choices when it comes to these vegan frozen dinners. You can freeze your own food if you’re feelin’ ambitious, or you can buy it already made. You can get the Power Bowls, the Light & Lean ones, the fancy Saffron Road stuff, the Kashi plant-based meals, or the Evol Lean & Fit ones. And don’t forget about Stouffer’s and their new vegan Lean Cuisine. Or, if you’re feelin’ fancy, you can try that Purple Carrot. Me? I just stick to the basics. Somethin’ with lots of vegetables and grains. Somethin’ that fills me up and doesn’t taste too bad. And most importantly, somethin’ easy. ‘Cause when you’re my age, you ain’t got time for fussin’ around in the kitchen all day.
Freezing your own food? Well, it’s alright if you’re good at that kind of thing. But I always end up with a freezer full of ice-covered mystery containers. And then I gotta thaw it out and figure out what it is. Half the time, it ends up in the garbage. It’s just easier to buy it frozen, you know? You just stick it in the microwave, and boom, dinner is served. No mess, no fuss. That’s what I like.
And let’s be honest, sometimes you just want somethin’ quick and easy. You don’t want to spend an hour choppin’ vegetables and cookin’ up a storm. You just want to eat and get on with your day. That’s where these vegan frozen dinners come in handy. They ain’t fancy, but they do the job. And with so many different kinds to choose from now, there’s gotta be somethin’ for everyone. Even for an old woman like me.
So next time you’re at the store, take a look at the frozen food aisle. You might be surprised at what you find. And who knows, you might even find a new favorite vegan frozen dinner. Just make sure you read the label, though. Some of that stuff has got more salt and sugar than you need. But if you’re careful, you can find some pretty healthy and tasty options. And that’s good enough for me.
