Alright, let’s yak about these dessert food trucks, you know, the kind that sell sweet stuff. I ain’t never seen one myself, but my grandkid told me about ’em. Said they’re like stores on wheels, sellin’ all sorts of sugary things. Sounds like a dream, don’t it? Kids these days, always got somethin’ new.
So, first off, what kinda treats are we talkin’ about? Well, my grandkid said there’s ice cream, of course. Big scoops, he said, all sorts of flavors. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, the usual. But then there’s fancy stuff too, like mango and pistachio. Who ever heard of pistachio ice cream? Sound right odd to me.
And it ain’t just ice cream, no sirree. They got cakes and pies too, little ones, just the right size for one person. My grandkid said they call ’em cupcakes and mini pies. Said they’re real pretty, all decorated with frosting and sprinkles. I tell ya, back in my day, a pie was a pie, big enough to feed the whole family. Now they got these tiny little things, cost a fortune I bet.
- Ice cream, all kinds
- Little cakes, cupcakes they call ’em
- Tiny pies, like for dolls
- Other stuff, cookies and such
Then there’s cookies, all sorts of ’em. Big ones, small ones, chewy ones, crunchy ones. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin… my grandkid went on and on. Sounded like a whole bakery on wheels. And candy too! Lollipops, gummy bears, chocolate bars… enough to make your teeth rot right out of your head.
Now, how do these things even work? My grandkid tried to explain it, somethin’ about a kitchen in a truck. Said they got ovens and refrigerators and everything. Imagine that, bakin’ a cake in a truck! Must be hot in there, all that cookin’ going on. And where do they get the water? And the electricity? It’s all a mystery to me.
But the real question is, are they any good? My grandkid sure seems to think so. Said the desserts are delicious, the best he’s ever had. But kids these days, they’ll eat anything with sugar in it. I reckon I’d have to try one myself to know for sure. Though I ain’t sure my old teeth could handle all that sweetness.
And what about the people who run these trucks? Who are they? My grandkid said they’re just regular folks, tryin’ to make a livin’. Said some of ’em are chefs, some are bakers, some are just people who love to make desserts. I guess that’s alright. Everyone’s gotta make a livin’ somehow.
Now, some folks say barbecue is the best food truck food, but my grandkid says dessert is where it’s at. He says you can get barbecue anywhere, but a good dessert truck is hard to find. And he’s probably right, always was a smart one, that grandkid of mine. Though, I do love a good slab of ribs myself.
So, there you have it. Dessert food trucks. Sound like a crazy idea, but I guess people like ’em. Maybe one day I’ll see one for myself, maybe even try one of those fancy cupcakes. But until then, I’ll stick to my apple pie. At least I know what’s in it.
My grandkid also mentioned somethin’ about where to find these trucks. Said there’s this thing called “Yelp” where folks write about ’em. Said you can find the best ones in Lexington, somethin’ about crank boom ice cream and bellas ice cream and a cafe. Sounded like a bunch of gibberish to me, but I guess that’s how young folks do things these days, always lookin’ at their phones.
I heard you can even get baked goods on some of these trucks, not just ice cream and cookies. Ovens on wheels! Can you believe it? My grandkid said it’s possible, so I guess it must be. Just goes to show you, anything’s possible these days. Makes you wonder what they’ll come up with next.
