Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this corn meal stuff and them ants. Folks been sayin’ all sorts of things, you know? Like it makes them ants explode or somethin’. Explode! Can ya believe that? Sounds like a whole lotta hooey to me.
Now, I ain’t no fancy scientist or nothin’, but I’ve seen my fair share of ants crawlin’ around. They get into everythin’, them little critters. Sugar, breadcrumbs, you name it. So, this corn meal thing, I had to try it out myself. See if there’s any truth to it.
First thing I did was put out a little pile of corn meal. Just plain corn meal, nothin’ mixed in. And wouldn’t you know it, them ants came marchin’ right over. They ate it up, just like they would anythin’ else. But they didn’t explode. Not a single one. Just kept on crawlin’ around, lookin’ for more food.
Then I heard tell that you gotta mix it with somethin’ else, like that boric acid stuff. Now, boric acid, that’s somethin’ I do know kills bugs. Used it plenty of times on them roaches. So, I mixed some of that boric acid with the corn meal and put it out again.
- This time, things were different.
- The ants still ate it, but they didn’t seem too happy about it.
- They started movin’ slower and then… well, they just died.
So, I reckon it ain’t the corn meal itself that kills ‘em, it’s the boric acid. The corn meal just tricks ‘em into eatin’ it. It’s like hidin’ medicine in a piece of candy for a sick kid. They think they’re gettin’ a treat, but they’re actually gettin’ somethin’ that’ll help ‘em.
And as for that cinnamon stuff, I tried that too. Sprinkled it around the windows and doors, where them ants like to come in. Seemed to work alright. Kept ‘em away for a while. But it didn’t kill ‘em, just made ‘em go somewhere else. Which is good enough for me, I reckon. I don’t want them in my kitchen, and I don’t want to be killin’ every livin’ thing. Just the ones that get in my food.
Some folks say the ants eat the corn meal and then they drink water, and that corn meal swells up inside ‘em and kills ‘em. Well, I ain’t seen that happen. Maybe it’s true, maybe it ain’t. All I know is, if you wanna get rid of ants, boric acid is the way to go. Corn meal just helps you get it to ‘em.
And another thing, this corn meal, it don’t do nothin’ for that fungus stuff on your plants neither. Heard some folks sayin’ it does, but it ain’t true. If you got fungus on your plants, you need somethin’ stronger. Somethin’ made for that kinda thing. Don’t go wastin’ your time with corn meal.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this whole corn meal and ants business. It ain’t a miracle cure, but it can be helpful if you use it right. Mix it with boric acid and it’ll kill them ants dead. Sprinkle it with cinnamon and it’ll keep ‘em away. But on its own, it just feeds them. And that’s the plain truth, as I see it.
Now, I gotta go make some cornbread. All this talk about corn meal got me hungry. And don’t you worry, I’ll make sure them ants don’t get any of it. I got my boric acid and cinnamon all ready to go!
One more thing, don’t go believin’ everythin’ you hear. Folks like to exaggerate, ya know? Especially about things like this. Best thing to do is try it out for yourself and see what happens. That’s what I always do. And that’s why I know this corn meal stuff ain’t no magic bullet, but it can be useful if you know how to use it. And that’s all there is to it.
