Well, look at this, you wanna know about gettin’ a job at that Steamboat Natchez place, huh? And food and drinks, too? Alright, let’s see what this old woman can tell ya.
First off, they’re hirin’, that’s what I heard. They need folks to work with the food and drinks. You know, bringin’ folks their grub and such. They call it “Food and Beverage,” sounds fancy, but it’s just servin’ food and drinks, same as it ever was.
Now, how you get the job? Well, they got this thing called an “application.” It’s a paper, or maybe somethin’ on the computer, where you gotta write down all sorts of stuff about yourself. Where you worked before, if you ever carried a tray of food without spillin’ it all over the place. That kind of thing.
- They wanna know if you can handle the work, see. It ain’t easy, walkin’ around on a boat, carryin’ plates and glasses. Gotta be steady on your feet.
- And you gotta be nice to the folks, too. Smile and say “please” and “thank you.” Even when some old grump complains his soup is cold.
- And you probably gotta be on time too, can’t be late all the time, right? People are eating and they are paying, no one wants to wait.
- Oh, almost forgot, you also need to know a little bit about what you’re serving. If people ask “what’s this made with?”, you cannot just say “I don’t know”.
This Steamboat Natchez, it’s a big boat, goes up and down the river. Lots of people go on it, tourists and such, so they need lots of people to work. They got cooks, they got waiters, they got people who mix the drinks. All sorts of jobs.
I heard they pay alright, too. Not gonna make you rich, but enough to put food on the table and maybe buy yourself a new pair of shoes. And you get to see the river all day, that’s a nice bonus, I guess. Better than lookin’ at the same old dirt road all day.
So, where do you find this application? Well, that’s the tricky part. I reckon you gotta go down there, to the boat, and ask. Or maybe they got it online, on their website. You know, that internet thingy. I ain’t too good with that stuff, but maybe your kids can help you out.
And don’t forget, they probably ain’t the only ones lookin’ for people. There’s other places in town, restaurants and such. Steamboat Springs, I heard they got plenty of places needin’ help. Maybe you can find somethin’ there, too. You gotta look around, see what’s available.
But this Natchez boat, it sounds like a good place to work. Lots of people, lots of food, lots of excitement. Just gotta be willin’ to work hard and keep them customers happy. That’s the key to any job, I tell ya.
Now, go on and get that application. Don’t be shy. And if they ask you if you know how to carry a tray of food, you just tell ’em you learned from the best. Even if that best is just an old woman like me who’s carried more plates of food in her life than you can count.
And remember, put on your best smile, be polite, and show them you’re a hard worker. That’s what they want. They don’t care if you’re young or old, fancy or plain, just as long as you can do the job. Good luck to ya, I hope you get it!
One more thing, they also have these Riverboat cruises, you know, for a few days. That might need more people too, cooks and servers, everything. You should ask about that too when you go get the application. More work means more money, right?
So that’s all I know about gettin’ a job at that food and beverage place on the Steamboat Natchez. Go get that application, and show them what you’re made of. And don’t forget to tell them this old woman sent ya, not that they’ll know who I am, but still.
