Alright, let’s talk about them high protein crockpot meals, you know, the kind that fill ya up good and keep ya goin’ all day long. I ain’t no fancy chef or nothin’, just a regular person who likes to eat good without fussin’ too much in the kitchen. And let me tell ya, that slow cooker, that crockpot, it’s a lifesaver. You just dump stuff in, turn it on, and hours later, you got a hot meal ready to go. Can’t beat that, I tell ya.
What kinda meats work good? Well, pretty much anything, really. Beef, that’s a good one. You get yourself a nice hunk of beef, toss it in with some carrots and turnips, maybe some potatoes too if you like, and let it cook low and slow all day. That beef gets so tender, it just falls apart. We call it “braised beef,” sounds fancy, but it ain’t nothin’ but good ol’ home cookin’. And the juice, oh that juice is the best part, soakin’ it up with some bread, mmm mmm good! That’s what I call a slow-cooker braised beef, and it’s packed with protein, that’s for sure.
- Beef
- Pork
- Chicken
Then there’s pork. Pork is another good choice. You can make pulled pork, that’s always a crowd-pleaser. Just get yourself a pork shoulder, or whatever they call it at the store, rub it with some spices – salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, whatever you got – and let it cook till it’s fall-apart tender. Then you shred it up with a couple of forks, and you got pulled pork. You can eat it on a bun, with some coleslaw, or just straight up, it’s good any way you slice it. Pulled pork is real comfort food, fills ya up and makes ya feel good inside.
And don’t forget about chicken! Chicken is great in the crockpot too. You can make all kinds of things, like slow cooker pesto chicken. Just throw some chicken breasts in the pot, add some pesto sauce, maybe some tomatoes or peppers if you want, and let it cook. That pesto sauce, it gives the chicken such a good flavor, and it keeps it nice and moist. Chicken is a good source of protein, they say, keeps you strong. And it’s easy to cook, that’s what I like about it.
Now, some folks, they like to eat that tofu stuff. I ain’t never really tried it much myself, but I hear it’s got protein too. And beans, beans are good for ya. Lentils, those little bitty beans, they’re good in the crockpot too. You can make a soup with lentils and vegetables, maybe throw in some shrimp if you like. That’s a good way to get your protein and your vegetables all in one pot. Quinoa, that’s another one, I tried it once. Not bad, but it ain’t like my mashed potatoes, that’s for sure. They say it’s full of protein, so it can go into your crockpot meal.
Is it healthy, you ask? Well, I reckon it is. You’re cookin’ it slow, so all the good stuff stays in there, they say. And you ain’t fryin’ nothin’, so that’s good. Of course, it depends on what you put in there. If you load it up with a bunch of fat and sugar, well, it ain’t gonna be so healthy. But if you use good, wholesome ingredients, meat and vegetables, then it’s a good healthy meal. And it’s easy, that’s the best part. You ain’t gotta stand over a hot stove all day long. Just set it and forget it, that’s what I say. You can come back from a hard day’s work and dinner’s already done.
Here’s some ideas for ya. You could make a smoothie with milk and fruit and that protein powder stuff, if you like that kinda thing. Or a salad with chicken or that tofu and some greens. Or a wrap with beans and veggies. Or that soup I was tellin’ ya about, with lentils and shrimp and vegetables. There’s lots of ways to get your protein in your slow cooked meals. Just use your imagination. And don’t be afraid to experiment. That’s how you learn to cook good, just try different things and see what you like.
So there you have it, my two cents on high protein crockpot meals. They’re easy, they’re healthy, and they’re darn good eatin’. Give ’em a try, you won’t be disappointed. And remember, it ain’t gotta be fancy to be good. Just good, honest food, that’s what I like. Food that fills ya up and keeps ya goin’. That’s what it’s all about.
