Hey you guys, let me tell you about this pizza casserole I made in my crockpot the other day. It was so easy, even I could do it! And it tasted just like pizza, but, you know, all mushed together in a pot. My grandkids, they gobbled it up, so you know it’s gotta be good.
Now, I ain’t no fancy cook. I just throw things in a pot and hope for the best. But this here pizza casserole in the crockpot, it’s a real winner. You just need some simple stuff, nothing too complicated. Here’s what I used:
- That ground meat, the Italian sausage, you know. Get that spicy one, gives it a good kick.
- Some of them egg noodles, the wide kind.
- A jar of that red sauce, the pizza sauce.
- Cheese, lots of cheese. That mozzarella, and some of that Parmesan too.
- Pepperoni, if you like it. I put a whole bunch on top.
- Onions and peppers, chopped up real small. The grandkids don’t like big chunks.
First thing you gotta do is brown that Italian sausage. Just cook it up in a pan until it ain’t pink no more. Then you throw it in the crockpot. Make sure you break it up good, no big clumps. Drain the grease, you don’t want no greasy casserole.
Next, you cook up them noodles. Just follow the box, nothing special. They don’t need to be cooked all the way, just a little bit. They’ll finish up in the crockpot. Drain them noodles good, you don’t want no watery mess.
Now you layer it all up in the crockpot. Start with some of that red sauce on the bottom. Then some noodles, then some meat, then some cheese. Keep layering it up like that until you run out of stuff. I like to put a whole bunch of cheese on top. Makes it all gooey and good.
If you’re using them onions and peppers, throw them in there too. I like to mix them in with the meat, but you can put them wherever you want. Ain’t no right or wrong way to do it.
Then you put that pepperoni on top, if you’re using it. I just cover the whole top with it. Makes it look pretty, and it tastes good too. This crockpot pizza casserole is a real crowd-pleaser, let me tell you.
Then you just cover it up and cook it on low for a few hours. I think I cooked mine for about 4 hours, but you can cook it longer if you want. Just make sure the cheese is all melted and bubbly. If it ain’t bubbly, it ain’t done.
And that’s it! That’s all there is to it. It’s so easy, a kid could do it. And it’s so good, you’ll want to make it all the time. My grandkids, they ask for it every time they come over. They call it “Grandma’s pizza casserole.”
Now, I know some of you fancy folks might want to add some other stuff to it. You could put some mushrooms in there, or some olives, or whatever you like on your pizza. But I like to keep it simple. Just meat, noodles, sauce, and cheese. That’s all you need for a good crockpot pizza casserole.
Oh, and one more thing. You gotta use a good crockpot. Don’t use one of them old, beat-up ones. You need a good one that cooks evenly. I got mine at the Walmart, it was on sale. It’s one of them fancy ones with the timer and all that. I don’t know how to use all them buttons, but it cooks good, and that’s all that matters. This easy pizza casserole is best made in a good crockpot.
You can also use different kind of meat. I like Italian sausage. Some folks use the hamburger. I think sausage is best for pizza casserole in the crockpot.
And don’t forget the cheese! You gotta have lots of cheese. I use mozzarella, but you can use whatever kind you like. Just make sure it melts good. Some of that cheap cheese don’t melt right, and then it’s just a mess. This is the most important part of a good pizza casserole.
So there you have it. My recipe for pizza casserole in the crockpot. It’s easy, it’s cheap, and it’s delicious. What more could you ask for? Give it a try, you won’t be sorry. And tell your friends about it too. Spread the word about Grandma’s pizza casserole. It’s the best thing since sliced bread, I tell ya!
If you got little ones running around, they will sure like this one. Mine just love it to pieces. This pizza casserole is always a big hit in my house.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about that. Go on and try it and you will see what I mean. You can thank me later. Just don’t be shy with that cheese now!
