This chicken strips, you know, it’s the food my grandkids always want when they come over. They just love it! But, you gotta have somethin’ with it, right? Can’t just be eatin’ the chicken all by itself. Gotta have some side dishes for chicken strips. These kids, they’d just eat the chicken and nothing else if I let ’em. So, I always gotta think, what goes good with these here chicken strips?
Potatoes, now that’s a good one. Everybody likes potatoes. You can do lots of things with ’em. Fry ’em up, mash ’em, bake ’em. For these chicken strips, I like to make them potato wedges. Just cut ’em up, not too thin, not too thick, you know? And I put a little oil on ’em, some salt and pepper. Maybe a little garlic if I’m feelin’ fancy. Kids ain’t picky, they like those potato wedges.
- Potatoes, cut up like wedges
- A little bit of oil
- Salt, just a sprinkle
- Pepper, if you like it
- Garlic, if you’re feeling fancy
Then, I just stick ’em in the oven. Bake ’em till they’re brown and crispy, just like the chicken strips. Oven baked potato wedges, a good side for chicken strips, for sure. You can also fry ’em potatoes, but the oven is easier, you know? Less mess and less oil, that’s always good.
Now, you gotta have somethin’ green, too. Can’t just have meat and potatoes, gotta have your veggies. Green beans, maybe. Just boil ’em up, not too long, you don’t want ’em mushy. A little butter on top, that’s all you need. Or maybe some corn on the cob. That’s easy, too. Just boil it up and slather it with butter. If not fresh corn, you can go with canned corn. I won’t tell nobody, it’s still a good side for chicken strips.
Another thing my grandkids like is that macaroni and cheese. That orange stuff from the box. They love that stuff! It ain’t fancy, but it’s easy, and they eat it up. Sometimes, if I want to make it a little bit better, I’ll add some extra cheese to the top, and put it in the oven for a little, it’s like a casserole. That makes it a good side dish for chicken strips too, I think.
- Macaroni
- That cheese powder stuff
- Maybe some extra cheese on top
And then there’s coleslaw. I like to make my own. Cabbage, carrots, you know? Chop it all up real fine. Then you need that mayonnaise stuff, and a little bit of vinegar, and some sugar. Mix it all up. Some people don’t like it, but I think it’s good, and it’s a good side dish for chicken strips. It’s fresh, you know?
Now, if you’re feelin’ lazy, you can just open up a bag of those frozen french fries. Those are okay, too. Just gotta bake ’em in the oven, or fry ’em up. These crispy chicken tenders, they go good with them fries. It’s a good option, if you don’t have much time.
And, oh! You can make some biscuits, too! Those are always good. Warm biscuits with butter, yum! The juicy chicken tenders and biscuits, yeah, that’s good eatin’.
Sometimes, I just put out a bunch of different things. Like, a little bit of this, a little bit of that. Some carrots and celery sticks. Maybe some of that dip, you know, the ranch kind. Kids like to dip their chicken and their veggies. Whatever you like, really, you can serve with chicken strips. It’s a good meal, you know? Everybody likes it. Just gotta have the right side dishes for chicken strips. That’s the important thing.
Sometimes I make rice. Rice is easy. Just boil it up with some water, that’s it. You can put a little butter on it, maybe some soy sauce if you like that. Rice goes with anything, really. Chicken strips and rice, that’s a good meal, too. And cheap! Rice is cheap, that’s good.
- Just plain rice
- Maybe some butter
- Soy sauce if you like it
And if you want to be real fancy, you can make a salad. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, whatever you got. Just chop it up and put some of that dressing on it. I like the Italian kind. Salad is healthy, you know? Gotta have your greens. A little salad with your chicken strips, that’s a good, balanced meal. A good side for chicken strips, I’d say.
So, yeah, lots of things you can have with chicken strips. Just gotta use your imagination. Potatoes, veggies, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, biscuits, rice, salad… whatever you like! Just make sure you got somethin’ to go with those chicken strips. That’s all that matters. It rounds out your menu, you know?
