Oh, honey, let me tell you, that coconut shrimp is some good eatin’. But you gotta have somethin’ on the side, ya know? Just shrimp ain’t gonna fill ya up proper.
What’s Good with That Shrimp?
Well, that coconut shrimp, it’s kinda sweet, kinda crunchy. So you want somethin’ that ain’t too sweet, maybe a little plain, to go with it. Rice is always a good idea. Just plain ol’ rice, you cook it up, fluffy and nice. That’ll soak up all them good juices from the shrimp.
- Plain white rice
- That brown rice if you like that
- Maybe some other kind, I don’t know all them fancy names
My grandbaby, she likes that coconut rice. She says it goes real good with the coconut on the shrimp. I guess that makes sense, but it’s too much coconut for me! But if you like coconut, then you do you, honey.
Veggies and Such
Now, you gotta have some veggies. Gotta get your greens, ya know? Just steam up some broccoli. Or them green beans. My mama used to make green beans with a little bacon. Oh, that was good! But just plain is fine too, if you don’t have no bacon.
French fries, oh, them’s good with anything. Crispy and salty. Kids love ’em. Grown-ups too, if they’re honest. You can dip ’em in the sauce from the shrimp. Yessir, that’s good eatin’.
I saw somethin’ called “mango salsa” one time. It sounds kinda fancy. It’s got that mango fruit, all chopped up. And some other stuff. I reckon that might be good with the shrimp. Sweet and tangy, maybe? I don’t know, never tried it. That’s what the young folks eat these days, I reckon.
Pasta, some folks like that with shrimp. I ain’t never had it that way, but my neighbor, she makes it. Says it fills ya up good. I like pasta, just not sure about it with the coconut shrimp. But hey, you never know ’til you try it.
- Steamed broccoli, nice and green
- Green beans, maybe with a little somethin’ somethin’
- Crispy, salty french fries
- That mango salsa if you’re feelin’ fancy
- Pasta if you are really hungry
Some More Ideas
You could also have some garlic bread. That’s always good. Buttery and garlicky, oh my! And hush puppies! Remember those? Little fried balls of cornbread. They’re good with any kind of seafood, I reckon.
You know what else is good? Just a simple salad. Some lettuce, maybe some tomatoes if you got ’em. A little dressin’. That’s a nice light side dish if you don’t want nothin’ too heavy with your coconut shrimp. You can put some bell pepper in the salad, make it more tasty.
Healthy Stuff
That coconut shrimp, it ain’t the worst thing you can eat. It’s got protein, that’s good for ya. Makes ya strong. And it’s got some of them vitamins, too. I heard it’s got vitamin A and vitamin C. That’s what they say, anyway. That’s good for your eyes and keep you from gettin’ sick, I think.
And them things they put in it, like onion and ginger and garlic, them’s all good for ya too. Keeps the doctor away, my mama used to say. I don’t know about all that, but they sure do taste good.
What We Like
We like that coconut shrimp. We like it a lot. So we try lots of things with it. We like that rice, and them green beans. Sometimes we have the french fries, ’cause who don’t like french fries? And sometimes, just a little salad. Depends on what we got in the icebox, ya know?
So there you have it. Just some simple ideas for what to eat with your coconut shrimp. Nothin’ fancy, just good ol’ home cookin’. Hope you enjoy it, honey!
