Okay, so yesterday I was messing around, trying to find a good seafood place, and stumbled upon this joint called Michael’s Seafood. I’d heard some buzz about their chowder, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First off, finding the menu was a bit of a scavenger hunt. I ended up on some random site that had it. Turns out this place is in Hammond, wherever that is. Turns out it’s at 1795 S Morrison Blvd, Hammond. Whatever, not important.
The Menu
The menu itself was pretty standard seafood fare. But the real star, from what I gathered, was this “international award-winning chowder.” They bragged about it being “a rich cream base loaded with clams, crabmeat, scallops, veggies, potatoes.” Sounds pretty good, right? So chowder was definitely on the list.
I skimmed through a bunch of reviews – like, a LOT. People were raving about the chowder, so that sealed the deal. Some site had user ratings, and it scored a 90, which is pretty darn good in my book.
Ordering
So I grabbed a few others to go with me since they also love seafood. I ordered the chowder, obviously. My buddies picked a few other dishes from the menu that sounded okay, I mostly tuned them out since I was after the chowder.
The Chowder
When the chowder arrived, it looked and smelled amazing. Thick, creamy, and you could see chunks of seafood and veggies. First spoonful, and bam! It lived up to the hype. Seriously, it was packed with flavor. Clams, crabmeat, scallops – it was all in there, just like they said. The veggies and potatoes were cooked just right, not too mushy. I had to stop myself from ordering a second bowl, I swear.
Overall
All in all, Michael’s Seafood was a solid find. I mean, I went in just expecting to grab a quick meal, and ended up having some of the best chowder I’ve ever tasted. I can see why it’s award-winning now. If you’re ever in Hammond, I guess, and you’re into seafood, especially chowder, you gotta try this place out. I’m definitely going back, just for that chowder, maybe next time I’ll pay more attention to the other stuff they have.
- Food: Amazing chowder, other dishes were okay.
- Service: Didn’t really pay attention, was too focused on the chowder.
- Atmosphere: It was a restaurant, what do you expect?
- Would I go back: Heck yeah, for that chowder!
So there you have it, my little adventure at Michael’s Seafood. Not a bad way to spend an evening, if you ask me. Especially when there’s good chowder involved. I’d say it’s a win.
