Alright, so I had a huge sweet tooth craving the other day, and I was in Nashville, TN. I figured, “Hey, Nashville’s a big city, they must have some killer dessert spots.” So, I did what anyone in my shoes would do – I hit the streets to find some sweets.
First, I heard about this place called Five Daughters Bakery. It sounded intriguing, so I headed over to 1110 Caruthers Ave. It was a little bit of a trek, but the place was open from 7 am to 10 pm, which is pretty great for a late-night sugar fix.
- Strolled through the door
- Checked out their menu
- Settled on a classic, something called a “100-layer donut”
Man, let me tell you, it was worth the walk. This wasn’t just any donut. It was like a croissant and a donut had a beautiful, delicious baby. Flaky, buttery, sweet, and just the right amount of decadent. I devoured that thing in record time.
Next Stop!
But I wasn’t done yet. My sweet tooth was still singing. I remembered reading about a spot called D’Andrews Bakery + Cafe. The name alone sounded like a place that knew its way around pastries. I found it easily enough, it was a nice, relaxed place where you can chill with a coffee and a treat.
- Walked in and enjoyed the calm vibe
- Ordered a coffee
- Eyed their pastry selection – it was impressive
- Picked out a chocolate eclair that looked divine
And divine it was. Rich chocolate, creamy filling, and a perfectly baked pastry. It was a great combo with the coffee, and I sat there for a while, just enjoying the atmosphere and the sweetness.
After those two heavy hitters, I figured I should probably see what else Nashville had to offer in the dessert department. I did a bit of wandering, soaking in the city. I saw a few places advertising Goo-Goo Clusters and something called Tennessee Waltz cake. Now, I didn’t stop to try them that day, but they’re definitely on my list for next time. They seemed like local classics, and I’m all about trying the local fare.
I even saw a place offering something called “sopapillas,” which I guess is big in Arizona but somehow made its way to Nashville. It’s a fried, flaky dessert, and it sounded pretty interesting. But after those two bakeries, I was pretty stuffed. So, I called it a day on the dessert adventure.
All in all, Nashville didn’t disappoint my sweet tooth. From the unique 100-layer donut at Five Daughters to the classic eclair at D’Andrews, it was a tasty journey. And I’ve still got a list of places to check out next time I’m in town. So, if you’re ever in Nashville and you’re craving something sweet, you’ve got some solid options. Just pace yourself, or you’ll end up in a sugar coma like I almost did!
