Alright, listen up, y’all! We gonna make this here… what they call it? Koogle apple thingy. Yeah, Koogle apple pie, but without all that milk and stuff. My grandbaby, she can’t eat that milk stuff, so we gotta do it different, you know?
First off, we need some apples. Good, sweet apples, not them sour ones. I like them red ones, they look pretty. You gotta peel ‘em and chop ‘em up small. Not too small, but not too big neither. Like, bite-sized pieces, you get me?
- Apples, gotta have ‘em.
- Sugar, the white kind.
- Oats, the kind you eat for breakfast.
- Some cinnamon, makes it smell nice.
- And this here… what’s it called? Dairy-free milk stuff. Yeah, that’s it. Get the kind that tastes good, not that watery stuff.
Okay, so you got your apples all chopped up. Now, dump ‘em in a big bowl. A big one, you hear? Don’t try to squeeze it all in a little bowl, it’ll make a mess. Then, you pour in some sugar. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to make it sweet. I usually just eyeball it, you know? A handful or two, that’s about right.
Next, you throw in some oats. Yeah, the regular oats. They soak up all that juice and make it thick and yummy. Don’t use too much, or it’ll be like eating cardboard. Just a cup or so, maybe a little more if you got a lot of apples. And then the cinnamon, a sprinkle or two, or more if you like it spicy. That cinnamon makes it smell real good when it’s baking.
Now, for that milk stuff. The dairy-free kind, remember? Pour it in, not too much, just enough to wet everything down. You want it kinda moist, but not soupy. Mix it all up good, make sure everything’s coated. Use your hands if you want, that’s how I do it. Just make sure your hands are clean, okay?
Now, get yourself a baking dish. A glass one is nice, but any kind will do. Grease it up with some of that… what they call it… cooking spray? Yeah, that stuff. Or you can use butter, if you ain’t got no spray. Just rub it all over the bottom and sides, so it don’t stick. Then you dump that apple mix into the dish, spread it out nice and even.
Now comes the waitin’ part. You gotta stick that dish in the oven. Preheat it first, you hear? About 350 degrees, that’s what the recipe book says, but I just turn the knob to “medium”. Bake it for about… oh, I don’t know… half an hour, maybe forty-five minutes. You gotta watch it, though. When it’s all bubbly and golden brown on top, that’s when it’s done.
Let it cool down a bit before you eat it, or you’ll burn your tongue. This here Koogle apple thing, it’s good warm or cold. My grandbaby, she loves it. Says it tastes like apple pie, only better. And it don’t bother her tummy none, cause it ain’t got no milk.
So there you have it. Easy peasy, right? You don’t need no fancy stuff to make good food. Just some apples, some oats, some sugar, and a little bit of love. That’s the secret ingredient, you know? Love. Makes everything taste better.
And if you got some leftover, don’t you go throwin’ it away! You can stick it in the icebox, or even freeze it. It’ll keep for a while. Just warm it up a little bit when you wanna eat it again. Or eat it cold, it’s good that way too. This recipe… shoot, it’s so simple, even I can do it! And that says something, let me tell ya.
Now go on and make this Koogle apple thing. And don’t forget, fresh ingredients make it taste better. It’s real easy, and real tasty. Your family will thank you for it. You’ll see!
And if it don’t turn out perfect the first time, don’t you worry. Just keep practicin’. Cooking ain’t about being perfect, it’s about feeding people you love. And that’s all that matters, really.
