Man, I just got back from a trip to Rockport, and I gotta tell you about the seafood situation there. It’s seriously a big deal, and I dove headfirst into it. So, picture this: I roll into town, and the first thing on my mind? Fresh, delicious seafood.
Started with Some Research
First things first, I did a bit of digging online. I mean, you can’t just walk into any place. You want the good stuff, right? I checked out a few lists, saw some names pop up like My Place by the Sea, The Lobster Pool, and Feather & Wedge. Sounded promising. There was also a list with Old Fulton Seafood Cafe & Steakhouse, Copano’s, and The Boiling Pot. Lots of choices! And yeah, I even glanced at some traveller reviews on Tripadvisor, as you do. It seems this place is just good for seafood, so I decided to eat some different seafood.
Hit Up a Few Spots
- My Place by the Sea: The name itself was so inviting. Sat down, got a table with a view, and ordered some delicious food. Oh boy, it was so good. I could eat there every day.
- The Lobster Pool: Okay, this place was a whole other experience. Super chill, right by the water. I went for the classic lobster, obviously. Messy but totally worth it. The freshness was just unbeatable.
- Feather & Wedge: This one’s a bit more upscale, you know? But I felt like treating myself. I tried some of their fish dishes, and man, the flavors were insane. Definitely a place for a special occasion.
- Old Fulton Seafood Cafe & Steakhouse: I heard good things, so I gave it a shot. It had a nice vibe, and the seafood was pretty darn good. They do steak too, but I stuck to the fish.
- Copano’s: This place felt more local, which I liked. I tried something different there, and I was not disappointed. Very nice place with friendly people.
- The Boiling Pot: Now, this was a fun one. You get down and dirty with some seriously tasty seafood. It’s all about the boil here, and it’s delicious.
Thinking About Food
It got me thinking about how popular seafood is. I mean, I knew shrimp was a big deal, but 4.6 pounds per person in the US? That’s wild. And it’s not just shrimp. People love salmon for that rich flavor and those omega-3s. Tuna’s super versatile, and cod is a classic for fish and chips. Oh, and halibut – that’s some good eating right there. This trip just confirmed how much I love seafood, and how many awesome ways there are to enjoy it.
Wrap-Up
All in all, my seafood adventure in Rockport was a total success. I tried a bunch of different places, ate way too much good food, and just soaked in that coastal vibe. If you’re ever in Rockport, do yourself a favor and explore the seafood scene. It’s a must. And hey, if you’re not from around there, it’s worth the trip just for the food. Trust me on this one.
