Well, let me tell you, if you’re lookin’ for the best seafood market in Charleston, SC, you’ve come to the right place. I may be old, but I know good seafood when I see it. And that Charleston, that’s a place that knows its fish. I heard so many good things about their seafood, oh my!
That Crosby’s, now that’s a name I hear a lot. Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp Company, they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They got all sorts of things there. Fresh fish, shrimp, you name it. Folks ’round here, they swear by it. They say it’s the best, freshest seafood you can get in Charleston. I reckon if you want the good stuff, you gotta go where the locals go, right? And they all say Crosby’s is the place. My gut tells me it is right, you know. I just know it.

Then there’s another one, Tarvin Seafood. Heard good things about that one too. They say it’s a bit out of the way, maybe, but worth the trip. Real fresh, they say. Like, straight off the boat fresh. If you want that real taste of the ocean, you gotta get it fresh like that, you know? Ain’t nothin’ like it. Oh, I miss the taste of really fresh fish. I used to have it all the time. Now it is so hard to find a place to get the good seafood. I should really visit Charleston someday.
And Welch’s Seafood. Now that’s a name that brings back memories. Reminds me of old man Welch back home. Used to sell the best darn catfish you ever tasted. This Welch’s, they say it’s a good, honest place. Good people, good seafood. That’s what you want, ain’t it? You don’t want no fancy place with fancy prices. Just good, simple seafood. I bet they got some good stuff there. Charleston, you sure know your seafood.

Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout a place called Captain Harry’s Oysters & Shrimp. Oysters! Oh, how I love oysters. If you’re into oysters, that might be your spot. I ain’t had a good oyster in ages. Used to be able to get ’em fresh all the time. Now, you gotta go lookin’ for ’em. They say this Captain Harry, he knows his oysters. And shrimp too, apparently. Sounds like a place I’d like to try. Charleston sure has many options for a seafood lover.
Marvin’s Seafood, another place on the list. To be honest, I ain’t heard as much about this one. But they say it’s good. They say everybody in Charleston knows their seafood. So, I reckon if it’s in Charleston, it’s gotta be worth a try, right? They must have something good. Maybe they have good crabs. I sure hope they do. It is rare to find good crabs nowadays.
Capt Don’s Seafood, I heard people talk about it, too. They said it is a must-try. So many places! How can a person choose? I guess you have to go to them all. What a delicious adventure. If only I have the time. I will ask my grandson to take me one day. He loves seafood, too. We can try all these places together. It will be so much fun!

They say, if you want the best variety, you gotta go on the busy days. Thursdays to Sundays, that’s when they get all the good stuff in. Makes sense, don’t it? More people buyin’, more fresh stuff comin’ in. I always say, if you want the best, you gotta be there when it’s fresh. Just like pickin’ tomatoes from the garden. You want ’em ripe and ready. Same with seafood, I reckon. Go there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You will find more good stuff. That’s what I heard.
Charleston, that’s the place for seafood, ain’t it? All these places, all this fresh fish and shrimp. I heard they have all these fancy kinds of oysters, Blue Point, Barataria Blade, Wellfleet. They even have good grits with shrimp. Sounds interestin’. They call it Lowcountry shrimp and grits. I wonder what it tastes like. They also have she-crab soup. Never had that before. I don’t know what it is, but I trust it will be good. Sounds like heaven to me. Wish I could just hop on a train and go right now. Just think of it, all that fresh seafood just waitin’ to be eaten. Oh, my mouth is waterin’ just thinkin’ about it.

And I believe ’em. I just know it in my bones. One day, I’ll go there myself. And I’ll eat all the fresh seafood I can find. Until then, I’ll just keep dreamin’ of that Charleston seafood.
