Well, let me tell ya, this here “cookie cutter Sesame Street” thing, it’s got me thinkin’. First off, “cookie cutter,” what does that even mean? Sounds like somethin’ you use to make cookies, right? Them little things you bake in the oven. But folks also use it to say somethin’s plain, nothin’ special. Like, every house on the street looks the same, they call it “cookie cutter” houses. Same goes for ideas and stuff, I guess.
Now, Sesame Street, that’s a whole different story. That’s that show with all them puppets, right? Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie. My grandbabies, they love that show. Always singin’ along and gigglin’. It’s a good show, teaches them kids about letters and numbers, and bein’ kind to each other. That’s important, you know?
So, when you put “cookie cutter” and “Sesame Street” together, what do you get? Well, I reckon it could mean a few things. Maybe it’s talkin’ about actual Sesame Street cookie cutters. You know, them little metal things you use to cut out cookies shaped like Elmo or Big Bird. I seen them in the stores, kinda cute, I guess. Kids love cookies shaped like their favorite characters.
- You can buy them old vintage ones
- You can buy new ones
- You can even buy them special custom ones
But it could also mean somethin’ else. Maybe it’s sayin’ that Sesame Street has become kinda… plain? That it’s lost its spark or somethin’. That all the episodes are the same, just followin’ the same old formula. Now, I don’t know about that. Like I said, my grandbabies still love it, and that’s good enough for me. But maybe some folks think it ain’t as good as it used to be. Things change, ya know? Nothin’ stays the same forever.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s talkin’ about how folks are makin’ their own Sesame Street stuff. You know, like on them internet sites. Folks makin’ their own Elmo puppets, or writin’ their own Sesame Street songs. And maybe some of it’s good, and some of it’s just… well, “cookie cutter.” Just copyin’ the real thing, but not as good. Not as much heart in it, ya know?
I remember when my kids were little, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. We made our own fun. We used to cut cookies with just a plain ol’ glass, didn’t need no special shapes. And the kids, they loved it just the same. Maybe that’s what’s missin’ these days, a little bit of that homemade touch. Too much fancy stuff, too much of the same thing.
Anyway, that’s just my two cents. I ain’t no expert or nothin’. Just a regular old woman tryin’ to make sense of things. But whether you’re talkin’ about actual cookie cutters, or Sesame Street bein’ too plain, or folks makin’ their own stuff, it all comes down to one thing: findin’ somethin’ that brings a little bit of joy to your life, and to the lives of them young’uns. That’s what matters, right? A little bit of happiness, a little bit of kindness. That’s what Sesame Street is all about, and that’s good enough for me.
