Okay, so I saw this cute little beverage cozy pattern online and thought, “I gotta try that!” I’m not the best at crafts, but I do enjoy making things, and this seemed simple enough. Plus, I always have drinks sweating all over my desk, so it felt practical, too.

Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my stuff together. I already had some yarn lying around – a nice, soft, chunky kind in a pretty teal color. I figured that would be perfect. Then, I grabbed:
- A crochet hook (I used a size H/8 – 5.0 mm, but you do you)
- Scissors
- A tapestry needle (for weaving in the ends… ugh, my least favorite part)
Getting Started
I found a basic pattern. It starts with a magic ring, which always sounds intimidating, but it’s actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I always end up watching a few different videos just to see it a few times before it clicks.
So, I made my magic ring and did six single crochets into it. Then, I just kept going around and around, increasing the number of stitches in each round to make it bigger. Easy peasy, right?
The Middle Bit
The middle part was the most fun because I felt like I was finally building something. I had a random tall cup I was using as a model. I had to rip out some stitches a few times.
Once I got it to the right height, I did a round of single crochets, but only in the back loops. This created a little ridge, which I thought looked kinda neat. It also helps the cozy grip the cup better, I think.
Finishing Up
Finally, I did a slip stitch to join the last round, and then I fastened off the yarn. Now came the dreaded part… weaving in the ends. I swear, this is where I always lose my motivation. But, I pushed through, wove them in as neatly as I could, and snipped off the excess yarn.
The Result!
And there it was! My very own beverage cozy. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches, and it’s maybe a little lopsided, but I made it! And it actually works! My drink isn’t sweating all over my desk anymore, and it looks kinda cute, too. I’m pretty proud of myself, to be honest. I might even make a few more in different colors!
