Today, I’m gonna tell you about my trip to Bob’s Seafood in Absecon. I’d heard good things about this place, apparently, they’ve been around for like 40 years or something. So, naturally, I had to check it out.
First off, finding the place was easy. It’s on 606 Mill Rd. I just plugged it into my GPS and drove straight there. It’s a little unassuming spot, you know, one of those places that doesn’t scream “fancy,” but that’s usually where you find the best grub.
Walking in, it was clear this place is all about the seafood. The smell of fresh fish hit me right away, but in a good way, like the ocean, not like something’s gone bad. They had a market area where you could see all the fresh catches. I saw some huge pieces of fish, some shrimps, and a bunch of other stuff I couldn’t even name. They also had this menu board up with all sorts of dishes, like fried seafood, broiled dishes, sandwiches, and even some homemade soups. That part got me interested, I’m a sucker for a good soup.
I decided to go for the fried seafood platter, figured it’s a good way to test the waters, you know? And because I couldn’t resist, I also ordered a bowl of their clam chowder. The folks behind the counter were super friendly, took my order with a smile, and didn’t make me feel rushed even though I was probably staring at the menu for too long.
- Ordered the fried seafood platter
- Got a bowl of clam chowder too
The wait wasn’t too long. I found a cozy little table and chilled out, soaking in the vibe of the place. It’s got that local, family-owned feel, which I really dig. Not too crowded, but there were enough people to make it feel lively.
When my food arrived, man, it looked good. The platter was piled high with all kinds of fried goodies – fish, scallops, shrimp, you name it. And the clam chowder looked thick and creamy. I dug in, and oh boy, it was delicious. Everything tasted super fresh, like it was just caught that morning. The batter was crispy but not too heavy, and the seafood inside was cooked just right. The clam chowder was also a winner, with big chunks of clams and a rich, flavorful broth. It was the perfect comfort food.
What I Ordered
- Fried Seafood Platter: A mountain of fresh, crispy goodness.
- Clam Chowder: Creamy, chunky, and full of flavor.
I ended up stuffing myself silly, but it was totally worth it. I even took a few minutes to chat with one of the staff, and she told me a bit about how they source their seafood locally and how the recipes have been passed down through generations. It’s always cool to hear the story behind a place, makes the food taste even better.
All in all, I’d say Bob’s Seafood is a solid spot. It’s not just about the food being amazing; it’s the whole experience. The friendly service, the local vibe, and knowing you’re eating something made with care. I left with a full belly and a good feeling, already thinking about what I’ll order next time. If you’re ever in Absecon and you’re into seafood, you gotta give this place a try. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
