Okay, here’s my attempt at documenting my experience with murder mystery dinners in CT, blog style!
Cracking Cases & Carbs: My Adventures with Murder Mystery Dinners in CT
Alright folks, so you know I’m always looking for something a little different to do on the weekends. Bored of the same old dinner-and-a-movie routine. So, I stumbled across something kinda cool: murder mystery dinners! And guess what? Connecticut has a bunch. I figured, why not? Let’s dive in headfirst!
First off, I did a little digging online. Searched around for “murder mystery dinners in CT” and bam, a ton of options popped up. I read a bunch of reviews, comparing locations, themes, and prices. I wanted something interactive, funny, and, most importantly, with good food!
I ended up booking a spot at a place in some historic hotel, figuring it’d add to the atmosphere. The theme was some kinda roaring twenties gangster thing. Perfect!
The day arrived, and I dragged my friend Sarah along for the ride. We got there, and the place was decked out. Think feather boas, fedoras, and jazz music playing softly in the background. We were handed character assignments as soon as we walked in. I was some kinda moll – loved it!
- The Prep: Read my character sheet like crazy. Understood my motives, my secrets, and my relationships with the other characters. I even practiced my accent!
- Theming is Key: Get into the spirit! I wore a flapper dress and some long pearls. Sarah went full-on detective with a trench coat and magnifying glass.
So the dinner itself? A chaotic, hilarious, and surprisingly delicious affair. Between courses, we were all mingling, interrogating each other, dropping hints, and trying to piece together who offed the poor victim. The actors were fantastic, staying in character the whole time and throwing in plenty of improv. I interrogated everyone like crazy, asking questions and stirring the pot. I even managed to trick the real killer into revealing themselves… or so I thought!
Turns out, I was wrong! I accused the wrong person, making a fool of myself in the process. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? It was super engaging.
After the main course, everyone got to put in their guess of who the killer was. Sarah and I were completely wrong, but it was still awesome! They gave out awards for best actor, best detective, and of course, the person who guessed the killer.
My lessons learned?
- Go with friends who are willing to commit.
- Don’t be afraid to be silly.
- Read your character sheet!
- Pay attention to details.
Overall, it was a blast. I would totally do it again. Now I’m searching around for other murder mystery events to try out. Next time, I’m coming for that “Best Detective” award. Watch out!
