Okay, so I saw this phrase “cultured dessert option” in the NYT crossword and was like, what the heck is that? I’m not a huge crossword person, but I do love desserts, so I figured I’d give it a shot.
My Dessert Hunt
First, I brainstormed. What desserts do I even know? Cake, pie, cookies… the usual suspects. But “cultured”? That threw me off. It sounded fancy, maybe something… fermented?
Then, I hit up Google. Just typed in “cultured dessert” and hoped for the best. I scrolled through a bunch of random stuff – recipes, articles, some weird-looking stuff I didn’t recognize.
- I found some mentions of yogurt-based desserts, like frozen yogurt. That seemed promising!
- There were also some things about cheese, which can be “cultured.” Cheese plates, cheesecakes… maybe?
I went back to the crossword clue. It was a five-letter word. Frozen yogurt was too long. Cheesecake too. Hmm.
I kept digging on Google, looking specifically for five-letter dessert options. I stumbled upon a few more possibilities, and that got me thinking more along the lines of dairy.
I revisited the “cultured” idea. And then it hit me! It is a dessert starting with a “Y” sound.
After tried many times, I nailed it. So, yeah, that’s how I figured out a crossword clue. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow… or maybe I’ll just go eat some yogurt.
