Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Seka Hills dessert wine. I ain’t no fancy wine person, but I know what tastes good, ya know? I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, so I figured I’d give it a try.
First off, they say it’s from some place called Capay Valley in California. Never been there myself, but I reckon it must be a nice place if they’re makin’ wine like this. And it’s made with somethin’ called Shiraz grapes, or maybe they call it Syrah too. Sounds fancy, but it just means it’s a red wine, I think.
Now, this here wine, it’s a dark, purply color, like a ripe plum. When you sniff it, it smells kinda fruity, like black cherries and maybe some other stuff I can’t quite put my finger on. Kinda like the wild berries we used to pick when I was a young’un.
When you take a sip, it’s sweet, but not too sweet, ya know? It’s got this kinda strong taste, but it ain’t harsh. It feels kinda thick in your mouth, and it makes your tongue feel a little dry, but in a good way. Folks call that tannins, I hear. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a tannery, but I guess it’s what makes the wine taste the way it does.
They say it’s a dessert wine, which means you drink it after dinner, with somethin’ sweet. I tried it with some of my homemade apple pie, and it was mighty fine, let me tell ya. But you could probably drink it with just about anythin’ sweet, or even on its own if you’re feelin’ fancy.
I also heard they got other kinds of wine too, like some white wine called Viognier. And they even got olive oil, but I ain’t tried that yet. Seems like they do a lot of things over there at Seka Hills.
Now, I ain’t sure how much this wine costs, but I saw somewhere it was listed for $20 a bottle. That seems like a fair price for somethin’ this good. Of course, some folks might say that’s too much, but I figure you get what you pay for. And this here wine, it’s worth every penny.
And speaking of dessert wines, there’s all sorts of them out there. Some are real sweet, some are kinda sweet, and some are even red. There’s this thing called Icewine, made from frozen grapes, sounds strange but I hear its good and strong. And then there’s wines like Sherry and Port, those are strong too, they add extra alcohol to ‘em, they call it fortified. Each one tastes different, so you gotta find what you like. But this Seka Hills one, it’s a good place to start, I reckon.
- They make it with Shiraz/Syrah grapes.
- It’s got a dark ruby color.
- It smells like black cherries and herbs.
- It’s sweet and has tannins.
- It goes well with dessert.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good dessert wine, give this Seka Hills stuff a try. You might just like it. And if you don’t, well, more for me, I say! It’s a good wine, plain and simple. Nothin’ fancy, just good. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
