So, I decided to make some chili the other day. It’s one of my go-to comfort foods, especially when it starts to get chilly outside. But then I got to thinking, what should I serve with it? I mean, chili is great and all, but it’s even better when you have some tasty sides to go with it. I’m not a chef or anything, but I know my way around the kitchen, so I decided to make a couple of appetizers.
My Appetizer Experiments
First, I made some Hormel Chili Dip. I figured, why not start with something simple? And honestly, it turned out pretty good! It was super easy to make and I thought it was a good place to start.
- I just dumped some Hormel chili into a bowl.
- Heated it up.
- Added some cheese on top.
Easy peasy, right? It was a hit with my family. It’s creamy, cheesy, and has that perfect chili flavor. We dipped some tortilla chips in it, and it was gone in minutes!
Next up, I tried making Stuffed Mini Peppers. I saw a recipe online and thought, “Hey, why not?” They looked kinda fancy, but they were actually pretty simple to make. I grabbed some mini peppers, cut them in half, and scooped out the seeds. The filling was a mix of cream cheese, some shredded cheddar, and a bit of taco seasoning. I spooned the mixture into the pepper halves, popped them in the oven, and baked them until they were soft and the cheese was all melty and bubbly.
- Cut mini peppers in half and remove seeds.
- Mix cream cheese, cheddar, and taco seasoning.
- Fill pepper halves with the mixture.
- Bake until peppers are soft and cheese is melted.
These were a big hit too! They were a little spicy, a little creamy, and a whole lot of delicious. Plus, they looked pretty on the plate, which is always a bonus.
I also thought about what else goes well with chili. I remembered that cinnamon rolls are a thing people eat with chili, especially in some parts of the country. It sounded kinda weird to me at first, but I’m always up for trying new things. So I grabbed a can of store-bought cinnamon rolls, baked them, and served them alongside the chili. And you know what? It wasn’t bad! The sweetness of the cinnamon rolls kinda balanced out the spiciness of the chili. It was an interesting combo, for sure.
Of course, I also had some classics on hand, like cornbread, regular bread, and crackers. I mean, you can’t go wrong with those, right? And for toppings, I put out some shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped onions. Everyone likes to customize their chili, so I figured it’s best to give them options.
I even considered making some nachos or maybe even breakfast burritos with the leftover chili. But, honestly, we ate so much of it that there wasn’t much left! I guess that’s a sign of a good meal, right?
Anyway, that’s how my chili night went. It was a fun little culinary adventure, and I discovered some new favorite appetizers. I’m definitely going to be making those stuffed mini peppers again, and maybe next time I’ll try something even more adventurous with the cinnamon rolls. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start a chili and cinnamon roll trend in my neighborhood! But hey, don’t knock it till you try it, right?
