Alright, let’s talk about my morning coffee routine. It’s pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done right after I roll out of bed.

Getting Started
First thing, obviously, is waking up. Once my eyes are kinda open, the brain screams coffee. So, I stumble my way into the kitchen. Still half-asleep, you know how it is.
I grab my usual stuff:
- My simple drip coffee maker. It’s old but reliable.
- The coffee grinder.
- My favorite mug, the big one.
- And of course, the coffee beans.
The Process
I open the bag of beans. Take a good sniff – that’s one of the best parts, right? Then I measure out some beans. I don’t really measure precisely, just eyeball it into the grinder lid, maybe like two scoops worth.
Then comes the noise. Pop the lid on the grinder, hold it down. Bzzzzzzzzzzz! It’s loud, shakes the counter a bit. I usually grind them kinda medium, not too fine, not too chunky. Just until it sounds about right. I give it a little shake while grinding.
Next, I get the coffee maker ready. Take out the filter basket. Pop in a paper filter. Then I carefully tap the ground coffee from the grinder into the filter. Try not to spill too much, but it happens. Wipe the counter later.
Slide the basket back into the machine. Then, fill the water reservoir. I usually just use my coffee mug to measure the water – fill it up once with cold tap water, pour it into the back of the machine. Easy.
Put the empty coffee pot under the basket. Double-check everything looks lined up.

Brewing and Enjoying
Okay, moment of truth. Find the ‘on’ switch. Click. The little light comes on. Then the machine starts to gurgle and hiss. Takes a few minutes.
Usually, while it’s brewing, I start getting other breakfast stuff ready. Maybe toast some bread or grab a yogurt. The kitchen starts smelling really good, like proper coffee.
I listen for the brewing to slow down, that final gurgle. That means it’s pretty much done. Switch the machine off. Carefully pull out the pot – it’s hot. Pour that dark liquid gold into my mug.
And there it is. My breakfast coffee. I’ll usually add a splash of milk. Then I sit down and finally, properly start my day. It just works.
