Okay, so I recently tried out this thing with my air fryer. I wanted to make something a little sweet, a little savory, and not too complicated. I’ve been seeing all these recipes online, and the one that caught my eye was air fryer squash with a maple glaze. It sounded fancy, but it’s really not, trust me.
First off, I grabbed a squash from my fridge. It wasn’t one of those huge ones, just a regular, medium-sized butternut squash. I washed it, sliced it in half, and scooped out all the seeds and goop inside. If I had a bigger one, I think it would take me about 90 minutes with the oven, but not this time, it’s way faster with the air fryer.
Prepare the Squash
- Wash and halve the squash
- Scoop out seeds and pulp
Then, I preheated my air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. While it was warming up, I mixed together some maple syrup, a bit of olive oil, salt, and a dash of cinnamon in a small bowl. This was going to be my glaze, and let me tell you, it smelled amazing already.
Make the Maple Glaze
- Combine maple syrup, olive oil, salt, and cinnamon
Once the air fryer was ready, I brushed the cut sides of the squash with the maple glaze. I made sure to get it into every nook and cranny. Then, I placed the squash halves cut-side down in the air fryer basket.
I set the timer for about 8 minutes. I wanted the squash to be tender but not mushy. While it was cooking, I whipped up a little extra glaze because, why not? You can never have too much of a good thing, right?
When the timer went off, I flipped the squash halves over and brushed them with more of that delicious glaze. I popped them back into the air fryer for another 5 minutes or so, just to get them a little caramelized on top. That was a good choice.
Air Fry the Squash
- Brush squash with glaze
- Air fry cut-side down for 8 minutes
- Flip, glaze again, and cook for another 5 minutes
Finally, they were done! I took them out, and they looked so good – all golden brown and glistening with that maple glaze. I let them cool for just a minute before digging in. It was the perfect mix of sweet and savory, and the squash was cooked just right.
Honestly, this air fryer squash with maple glaze is a game-changer. It’s so easy, so quick, and so tasty. I’m definitely making this again. If you’ve got an air fryer, you’ve gotta try this out. It’s a great way to eat your veggies without feeling like you’re eating your veggies, you know? I just did it in 20 minutes, and I love it! Plus, it’s pretty healthy, so that’s a bonus!
Next time, I might experiment with adding some other spices, maybe a little nutmeg or even a pinch of cayenne for a kick. The possibilities are endless! Anyway, I just wanted to share my little kitchen adventure with you all. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
