Okay, so today I wanted to try something new in the kitchen. I’ve been seeing all these fancy seafood dishes online, and I thought, why not give it a shot? I decided to make a seafood medley. It sounds complicated, but trust me, it’s easier than you think.
First, I went to the grocery store and picked up a bag of frozen seafood medley. This bag was a lifesaver – it had a mix of everything: calamari, mussels, some octopus, and shrimp. It’s like the ocean decided to throw a party in a bag, and I was all for it. They also had a mix of mussels, smoked basa, smoked trout, squid and prawns. I just grabbed the first bag I saw, though, figuring it was all good.
Once I got home, I threw the bag’s contents into a colander and let it thaw under some cold water. While that was happening, I chopped up some garlic and onions. You can’t have a good seafood dish without garlic and onions, right? I also found some herbs in my fridge – parsley and a bit of thyme – and chopped those up too.
Next, I heated up some olive oil in a big pan. I love the sound of oil sizzling; it’s like the start of something delicious. I tossed in the garlic and onions, stirring them around until they were nice and fragrant. Then, I added the seafood medley to the pan. Oh boy, did that smell good! I made sure every piece of seafood was getting some love from the heat, you know, turning them over and all that.
- Seafood mix: Calamari, mussels, octopus, shrimp – you name it.
- Aromatics: Garlic, onions – the dynamic duo.
- Herbs: Parsley, thyme – just a pinch for that herby kick.
- Olive oil: For that essential sizzle.
I let it all cook for about 5-7 minutes. You don’t want to overcook seafood; it gets all rubbery. Once it looked done – the shrimp turned pink, and the mussels opened up – I sprinkled in the herbs. A little bit of salt and pepper, and voila! A seafood medley that looked like it came straight out of a cooking show.
Serving It Up
I served it over some pasta I had boiled earlier. You could also serve it with rice, or just eat it as is. It was so good, guys. Seriously, I surprised myself. It was a mix of flavors and textures, and every bite was like a little trip to the coast. I even took some pictures because, let’s be real, if you didn’t post it, did it even happen?
So, that’s my seafood medley adventure. It was fun, a bit messy, but totally worth it. If I can do it, you definitely can. Go ahead, give it a try, and let me know how it turns out!
