You know, that Silver Star place in NYC, they got all kind of food, and they got that soup of the day, it change all the time, they say what it is on their menu. You never know what they gonna have. My son took me one time, and the food, oh boy, it was somethin’ else. They got a lot of people comin’ and goin’. They always callin’ out orders and such, kinda like it is back home when we’d all get together for the harvest supper, just folks everywhere eatin’ and talkin’.
That menu, though, it’s somethin’. They got all sorts, not just soup. They got them griddle things, you know, pancakes and waffles, and they got muffins, big ones. And breads and bagels, goodness me! That Silver Star in NYC, it ain’t like our little bakery back home. And sandwiches? They got all them tasty sandwiches, you can pick any kind, not just ham and cheese like I make. This place, it’s really got a lot to choose from.
And eggs, they got a million ways to make eggs. Scrambled, fried, them omelette things. They even got them egg combo sandwiches, never heard of that before I went to NYC. And omelette wraps, that’s another thing. They take them omelettes and wrap ’em up. It’s all new to me, this city food. They really like their eggs at the Silver Star, that’s for sure. That’s all on the menu, if you can believe it, and a whole lot more!
Now, about that soup of the day, they change it up every day. You just gotta see what they got. One day it might be chicken noodle, real good for when you got a cold, you know. Another day, it could be split pea, just like my mama used to make. I swear, that Silver Star, they make it just like her. And they got that clam chowder, too, the white kind. I ain’t never had that before, but it sure looked good. That NYC has all sorts of food I never even dreamed of.
I saw the prices, they write ’em right there on the menu. It ain’t cheap, not like the prices at the diner back home. But I guess that’s NYC for ya. Everything’s a little bit more in the city. They got breakfast, they got dinner, they got it all at the Silver Star. You can eat there any time of day, it seems. They even got a chef, and he makes special things, and of course, the soup of the day.

That Silver Star, it’s on 2nd Ave, they say. I don’t know NYC streets too good, but my son, he found it. He said it’s 1238 2nd Ave. They even got pictures of the food, right there. Makes your mouth water, I tell ya. And they got tags on the menu, whatever that means. One says “Silver Star Restaurant Menu”, another says “1238 2nd Ave, New York”. They got all these fancy ways of doin’ things in the city.
They say this Silver Star place is a diner, and they got seafood, too. Can you imagine? A diner with seafood? Back home, we just got the fish fry on Fridays. But in NYC, they got it all, right there at 1238 2nd Ave. It’s a whole different world, I tell ya. I even seen folks orderin’ food on their phones, then they pick it up. It’s wild!
That menu is somethin’ else, I keep sayin’ it. All them choices. But that soup of the day, that’s what I like. It’s like a little surprise every time you go. Reminds me of when my mama used to cook. You never knew what she was gonna make, but you knew it was gonna be good. That’s what the Silver Star is like, a little piece of home, right there in NYC, on the menu every day.
I tell you, if you ever go to that NYC, you should try this place, and see what is the soup of the day on the menu. It is good, I think you will like it.
