Okay, so the other day I stumbled upon this thing called “tea seed meal” and thought, “What the heck is that?” I’m always looking for natural ways to deal with pests in my garden, and I’d heard whispers about this stuff, so I decided to give it a try.
Getting My Hands on the Goods
First things first, I needed to find some tea seed meal. I checked a few local garden centers, no luck. Then, I hopped online and found a supplier that seemed legit. Ordered a bag – wasn’t super cheap, but hey, if it works, it’s worth it, right?
The Experiment Begins
When the package arrived, I ripped it open. Inside was this brownish, kind of crumbly stuff. It smelled a bit… earthy, I guess? Not unpleasant, just different.
I’d read that tea seed meal is good for getting rid of earthworms and snails, so I have a few raised bed, and I apply it to them.
Mixing it Up
Now, I’d seen some conflicting info on how to actually use this stuff. Some folks said to just sprinkle it on top of the soil, others said to mix it in. I decided to go with a bit of both. I sprinkled some on the surface and then used a little hand rake to work it into the top couple of inches of soil. I was careful to only apply a small ammount.
Waiting and Watching
Then came the hard part: waiting. I watered the beds as usual and just kept an eye on things. I didn’t see any immediate, dramatic changes, which I guess is to be expected. It’s not like the worms and snails are going to instantly vanish into thin air.
Results (So Far)
It’s been about a week now, and I think I’m seeing fewer snails. I also noticed a reduce in earthworm. It’s hard to say for sure, but there definitely seems to be less slimy activity in the treated beds.
Next Steps
I’m going to keep monitoring the situation. I might do another application in a few weeks, just to be sure. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the results so far. It’s not a miracle cure, but it seems to be a decent, natural way to keep the pest population down. If you’re looking for an alternative to harsh chemicals, tea seed meal might be worth checking out!
