Okay, so today I want to talk about something that I’ve been trying to get better at – saying a dua after I eat. You know, like a little prayer of thanks after a meal. I’m not the most religious guy, but I’ve been feeling like I should be more grateful for the things I have, and this seemed like a good place to start.
First, I looked up some duas online, because, honestly, I didn’t know any by heart. I found a few different ones, some short, some long. Found one that’s like, “Praise be to Allah Who has fed us and given us drink and made us Muslims.” That one felt right to me – short and sweet, you know?
Then, I started trying to remember to say it after each meal. It was kind of awkward at first, I’m not gonna lie. I’d finish eating and then be like, “Oh crap, the dua!” But I kept at it. Sometimes I’d say it out loud, sometimes just in my head. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now.
I also read that saying a dua after eating is a good thing in Islam. It’s a way to show thanks to God for the food. Another one I found was, “O Allah, bless us in it and feed us that which is better than it.” I kinda liked that one too, asking for blessings and better food in the future.
Honestly, it’s been a pretty positive experience. It’s made me more mindful of the food I’m eating, and I do feel a bit more grateful overall. Plus, it’s a simple way to connect with my faith, even if it’s just for a few seconds after a meal.
I also stumbled upon a Christian prayer for after meals, which was pretty cool. It went something like, “We give thanks to Thee, O Christ our God, that Thou hast satisfied us with Thy earthly blessings…”. I’m not gonna switch religions or anything, but it was interesting to see the similarities.
- Trying to stick with it, even when I forget.
- Mixing it up sometimes, saying the dua out loud, sometimes just in my head.
- Feeling good about it, like I’m doing something positive.
So yeah, that’s my little journey with after-meal duas. It’s not a huge life change or anything, but it’s a small step in the right direction, I think. I’m going to keep doing it and see how it goes.
