Okay, folks, let me tell you about this little adventure I had today. So, I’ve been hearing a lot about this place, Ono Seafood, and their Poke Bowl Patrol food truck. People keep saying it’s the bomb, especially for poke bowls. And you know me, I’m always up for a good food adventure. So, I decided to check it out.
First off, finding the place was a bit of a mission. It’s tucked away at 501 Kealahou St #A53 in Honolulu. Not exactly the easiest spot to find, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? I drove around for a bit, but finally spotted the food truck parked conveniently right next to Ono Seafood. It’s like they knew I was coming.
I got there and the staff were super friendly. I mean, really nice folks. I started chatting with them, asking about their poke bowls, and they were happy to explain everything. They’ve got a bunch of options, but I was eyeing their spicy ahi and shoyu ahi. They also had this wasabi ahi that sounded interesting, and even tako poke. I was tempted to try a bit of everything.
I ended up ordering a bowl with the spicy ahi tuna and also gave the miso taku and wasabi ahi a shot. I’ve gotta say, the rumors are true. This stuff is amazing! The fish was so fresh, it practically melted in my mouth. Each flavor was distinct and just…wow. I mean, it’s no wonder people are saying it’s some of the best poke on the island.
Now, I’ve had my fair share of poke, and I’ve heard some people compare Ono to Alicia’s Market, saying Alicia’s is their number one. But honestly, Ono Seafood is right up there. It’s seriously delicious, and the fact that it’s coming out of a food truck makes it even cooler.
My Poke Bowl Breakdown:
- Spicy Ahi Tuna: Just the right amount of kick, and the tuna was super tender.
- Miso Taku: A different kind of flavor, but in a good way. It was a nice change of pace.
- Wasabi Ahi: For those who like that wasabi heat, this one’s a winner. It’s got a good punch to it.
All in all, it was totally worth the drive and the little search to find this place. If you’re ever in Honolulu and you’re a poke fan, you’ve gotta check out Ono Seafood and their Poke Bowl Patrol food truck. Trust me, you won’t regret it. It’s a solid meal, and for around 12 bucks, you get a hefty bowl that’ll fill you right up. Plus, the people are great, and the food is just top-notch. Two thumbs up from me!
Next time, I’m determined to try all the rest. I mean, who can resist, right?
