So, the other day, I was craving some good seafood, and I remembered this place called Captain Steve’s Family Seafood Restaurant. I’d heard some good things about it, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
First things first, I had to find this place. I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. Turns out, it’s located at 1975 US-21 in Fort Mill. Alright, not too far, I thought. Then I wanted to get a feel for what they offered, so I started digging around for their menu.
I found out they’re all about seafood, which is exactly what I was in the mood for. People online were raving about their “jumbo portions,” and that sounded pretty good to me. They also mentioned that the place is casual, which is perfect – I wasn’t looking for anything fancy. Besides seafood, I saw that they serve steak and chicken too. It’s good to know, but, you know I went for seafood!
I noticed a lot of folks talking about the place being a favorite in the Charlotte area for fresh seafood. And apparently, the portions are “enormous.” That’s a big plus in my book. We all know the feeling when we go out to eat and the portions are so small you could finish your food in 5 minutes. Then I read another comment saying that this restaurant specializes in delicious and “reasonably priced cuisine.” I said to myself “Reasonably priced, you say? I’m in!”
Finally, I decided to just go for it. I hopped in my car and drove over to Captain Steve’s. When I got there, I saw a decent crowd, which is usually a good sign. I walked in, got seated, and a friendly server handed me the menu.
Here’s a little glimpse of what I saw on the menu:
-
Appetizers
-
Hushpuppies – These were a must-try. Everyone talks about them.
-
Fried Calamari – Always a classic.
-
Seafood Platters
-
Captain’s Platter – This sounded like the real deal, with a bit of everything.
-
Fried Flounder – Can’t go wrong with fried fish.
-
Steaks & Chicken
-
Ribeye Steak – For those who don’t like fish.
-
Grilled Chicken Breast – Healthier option.
After looking through the menu, I decided to go with the Captain’s Platter. I mean, when in Rome, right? It had a little bit of everything: fried shrimp, scallops, oysters, and some fish. When the food arrived, I was amazed. The portion was HUGE, just like everyone said. The seafood was fresh and tasted great. I could tell why this place is so popular. And the hushpuppies? Oh man, they were delicious! It’s so good that you can’t stop eating them one by one.
All in all, it was a great experience. I left Captain Steve’s with a full belly and a smile on my face. I’ll definitely be back again, maybe to try some of their other dishes. If you’re ever in Fort Mill and you’re in the mood for some good, reasonably priced seafood, I highly recommend checking out Captain Steve’s Family Seafood Restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!
