So, I decided to make some Kool-Aid today. Felt like a throwback, something simple.

Getting Set Up
First, I went and found a packet. Had a few options, ended up picking out the grape one this time. Then I grabbed my big plastic pitcher from the cupboard. Made sure it was clean, gave it a quick rinse just in case.
Next step was water. Cold tap water works just fine. I looked at the pitcher markings, aimed for about two quarts. Poured the water straight in.
The Mix
Alright, time for the powder. Ripped open the little paper packet. You know that smell that hits you right away? Dumped the purple powder into the pitcher with the water. It clouds up immediately.
Then came the sugar. This part’s key. The packet usually says one cup, which is a lot. I tend to put a bit less, maybe just under a full cup. Measured it out and poured it into the pitcher too.
Found a long wooden spoon. Started stirring everything together. You gotta keep going for a bit. Make sure all that powder dissolves and the sugar melts into the water. Stirred it round and round, scraping the bottom a little to ensure nothing settled down there. Watched the color get nice and even.
Chilling and Serving
Once I was happy it was mixed well, I snapped the lid onto the pitcher. Cleared a space in the fridge and stuck it in there. It really needs to get cold, tastes way better that way. Could pour it over ice right away, but I prefer to let the whole batch chill down for a couple of hours if I have the time.
Later on, I pulled the pitcher out. Poured a nice tall glass full. Didn’t even need ice since it was properly cold from the fridge. Took a drink. Yep, tastes just like I remember. Super sweet, super grapey. It does the trick.
