Okay, so today I tried making that Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dessert Dip I saw somewhere. Sounded pretty good, figured I’d give it a shot.
Getting Started
First thing, I pulled out the cream cheese. Had a couple of blocks sitting in the fridge. Let those sit on the counter for a bit, you know, to get soft. Otherwise, it’s a pain to mix. While that was happening, I gathered the other stuff. Needed some brown sugar, a splash of vanilla, that caramel sauce you buy in a jar (the ice cream topping kind works fine), and of course, apples.
Mixing the Base
Once the cream cheese wasn’t brick-hard anymore, I tossed it in a bowl. Dumped in some brown sugar – didn’t really measure, just eyeballed it till it looked right – and a bit of vanilla extract. Got out my hand mixer and went to town. Mixed it until it looked smooth, like, well, cheesecake filling I guess. Took a couple of minutes. Had to scrape the sides of the bowl down once or twice.
Prepping the Toppings
Next up were the apples. I grabbed two Honeycrisps, gave ’em a good wash. Didn’t bother peeling them, I like the skin on. Just chopped them up into little bite-sized pieces. You don’t want huge chunks. Set those aside.
I also decided to add some crunch. Found some leftover toffee bits in the pantry. Perfect. Those got added to the ‘topping pile’.
Putting It All Together
Alright, assembly time. Got a shallow dish, something easy to dip into. Spooned that cream cheese mixture into the bottom and spread it out kinda evenly. Wasn’t aiming for perfection here.
Then, I grabbed the caramel sauce. Drizzled that all over the cream cheese layer. Again, no precise pattern, just made sure it was mostly covered. Looked pretty good already.
Finally, I sprinkled the chopped apples all over the top of the caramel. Tried to get them spread out. Then scattered those toffee bits over everything.
The Result
And that was basically it. Stood back and looked. Yeah, it looked like a proper dip. Pretty simple, really. Didn’t take long at all.
Served it up with some graham crackers and sliced pears I had. It went down pretty well! The creamy base, the sweet caramel, crunchy apples… nice combo. Definitely messy to eat, but worth it. A pretty easy thing to whip up if you need a quick dessert.
