Woke up the other day, sun was shining, and I just had this urge to get out of the house for breakfast. The usual spots felt a bit stale, you know? So, I thought, why not head over to Stillwater? It’s not too far, and it’s always nice by the river.

Got ready, hopped in the car. The drive itself was pretty pleasant. Took the scenic route along the St. Croix. It really is a lovely area, especially in the morning light before it gets too busy. Rolled down the windows a bit, felt good.
Finding a Spot
Parking in Stillwater can sometimes be a bit tricky, but it was early enough that I found a spot without too much hassle. Walked down Main Street for a bit. Lots of cute shops were still closed, but you could feel the town waking up. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just a solid, comforting breakfast.
Stumbled upon a little cafe, looked cozy. Not gonna name names, just a local place. It had that welcoming vibe, you know? Went inside. It wasn’t too crowded yet, which was perfect. Found a table by the window.
The Main Event: Breakfast
Looked over the menu. Pretty standard breakfast fare, which is exactly what I was in the mood for. Decided to go with the classic:
- Two eggs over easy
- Some crispy bacon
- Hash browns
- And a side of sourdough toast
Oh, and coffee, lots of coffee. Needed that caffeine fix.
The waitress was friendly, took my order quick. Didn’t take too long for the food to arrive. Looked good. Smelled even better. The eggs were cooked just right, runny yolks perfect for dipping the toast. Bacon was actually crispy, not that floppy stuff you sometimes get. Hash browns had a nice golden color.
Honestly, it just hit the spot. Simple food, done well. Sat there for a while, sipping coffee, watching people start to walk by outside. It’s nice to just slow down sometimes.

Wrapping Up
Paid the bill, left a decent tip. Walked back to the car feeling satisfied. It wasn’t anything earth-shattering, just a really nice, simple breakfast experience in a lovely town. Sometimes that’s all you need to start the day right. Glad I made the trip.
