Okay, so I’ve always wanted to try making edibles, and cannabis cookies seemed like a classic starting point. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous, but it turned out way easier than I expected. Here’s how I did it!

Getting Started
First things first, I had to gather my ingredients. Obviously, I needed some, ahem, special butter. I already had some cannabutter, If you don’t have ready-made cannabutter, you’ll need to make some. It is easy!
Besides that, it was pretty much your standard cookie recipe:
- Flour
- Sugar (both white and brown, because why not?)
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract (the good stuff, always)
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Chocolate chips (I went with semi-sweet, but go wild!)
The Mixing Process
I started by creaming together the cannabutter and the sugars. I used a hand mixer, but honestly, a good old-fashioned whisk and some elbow grease would work too. I just kept mixing until it was all light and fluffy.
Next, I beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla. It already smelled amazing, even without the “special” ingredient doing its thing yet.
In a separate bowl, I whisked together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, and salt. Then, I gradually added the dry stuff to the wet stuff, mixing until it was just combined. Overmixing is the enemy of tender cookies, people!
Finally, I folded in the chocolate chips. Because, duh, chocolate chips are essential.
Baking Time!
I preheated my oven to 350°F (that’s about 175°C for my non-American friends). Then, I dropped rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I made sure to leave some space between them because these cookies like to spread out a bit.

I baked them for about 10-12 minutes. The edges were golden brown, and the centers were still a little soft. That’s how I like them, anyway. If you prefer a crispier cookie, just bake them a little longer.
The Cool Down (and the Taste Test!)
I let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This is the hardest part because they smell SO GOOD.
I ate some. And it tasted great!
And that’s it! My first foray into the world of cannabis cookies was a success. Start low, go slow, and always, always be responsible. Happy baking (and consuming)!
