Alright, alright, listen up y’all, let’s talk about this here “pog cookie.” I ain’t no fancy baker or nothin’, but I know a good cookie when I taste one, ya hear? Now, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout all sorts of cookies – chocolate chip, sugar cookies, them oatmeal raisin things. But this pog cookie, well, it’s somethin’ else.
First off, I ain’t even sure what “pog” means. Sounds like somethin’ my grandkids would say, them always jabberin’ ’bout their video games and such. But hey, a good cookie is a good cookie, no matter what you call it.
What makes a good cookie, you ask? Well, it gotta be soft, but not too soft, ya know? Like, it should bend a little when you bite into it, but not crumble all over the place. And it gotta be sweet, but not too sweet, so it don’t make your teeth hurt. That’s important, see?
Now, this here pog cookie, from what I gather, it’s kinda like a sugar cookie, but with some extra somethin’ somethin’. Maybe some fruit in it, maybe some kinda special frosting. I ain’t had one myself yet, but I’m willin’ to bet it’s good. Folks be linin’ up at them bakeries, all the way from one coast to the other, just to get a taste of these fancy cookies. They got bakeries in big cities, like that Seoul place my niece went to, and even in smaller towns, like that Fairfield place they talk about on the TV.
- Texture is Key: Gotta be soft and chewy, but not fall-apart crumbly.
- Sweetness Done Right: Sweet enough to satisfy, but not enough to rot your teeth.
- Special Ingredients: Gotta have that somethin’ somethin’ that makes it different.
I tell ya, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy cookies. We had good ol’ fashioned cookies, made with butter and sugar and flour, nothin’ fancy. But times change, I guess. And these young folks, they always wantin’ somethin’ new and different. They got cookies with all kinds of crazy flavors now, like them cookies with fig jam and sprinkles, I seen in a magazine. And they even got a cookie, called Oreo, that’s sold all over the world, even in more than 100 countries! Can you believe that? A hundred countries!
But hey, if people like ’em, that’s all that matters. And if this pog cookie is as good as they say it is, well, then I reckon it’s worth tryin’. Maybe I’ll ask my daughter to find me a recipe, or maybe I’ll just go down to the store and buy me a box. I ain’t afraid to try new things, ya know? Even if it’s got a funny name like “pog.”
There are even some big cookie businesses now. Like that one in Texas, they make all sorts of cookies, new kinds and old kinds. I heard they started small but now they the biggest black-owned cookie place in the whole state. Good for them, I say. Baking cookies for folks and making a living, that’s the American dream, right?
So, what’s the bottom line on this here pog cookie? Well, I ain’t tasted it yet, so I can’t say for sure. But from what I hear, it’s a mighty fine cookie. And if you like cookies, and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, then I reckon you ought to give it a try. Who knows, maybe it’ll be your new favorite. But remember, even if it ain’t the best cookie you ever had, it’s still a cookie. And a cookie is always a good thing, ain’t it?
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find me a cookie. All this talk about cookies got me hungry.
